The Unification Church was founded by Sun Myung Moon during the 20th unification movement that took place in the South Korean region. This movement was earlier known as the “The Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity,” This movement was commenced in 1954, Unification movement over the years grew immensely, pulling thousands of participants from various parts of the world, the majority from the East Asian Nations the Koreans, and Japanese.
1.Sun Myung Moon-The Heart Of the Unification Movement
During the childhood days of the Sun Myung Moon, which is now in North Korea, he & family was converted to Christianity from being a Confucianism family. Later, Moon enrolled for the Presbyterian Church. When he was at the age of sixteen, as a young teen, Sun Myung Moon hit the world by storm when he said God Jesus appeared in front of him and said he was chosen by God to take the religion forward, in every nook & corner of the world. From there on, religious activities and events those with the idea of bringing global peace pulled the attention of Sun Myung Moon.
2.He Was Put Behind The Bars
When he was preaching his new religion, Christianity, he was attested by the communists of the North Korea, on the charges of being a spy agent from South Korea. He had to face five years of improvement for the same in a labor camp.
3.Moon fled to North Korea And Founded A Church
After the Korean war was silenced, Sun Myung Moon fled from the North Korean territory to South Korea. There, he founded an infamous church, known as the Unification Church and made people of South Korea aware of the teachings and values of Christianity. He put forth the doctrinal views, which include a number of fundamental things related to the religion- same religion marriage to mention one, we formulated the set of norms for family views, also highlighted the primary Christian beliefs. Three years from founding the church, Sun Myung Moon formulated the divine principle, simply the replica of the holy book of Christian, Bible with a few tweaks. The unification movement was on the belief that god Jesus itself intent to find the right men and women to take the world forward, bring humanity to the world, and overcome the harm done by Adam and Eve.

The strong views on marriage during the Unification movement was behind the mass weddings those happened during the Moon’s tenure. Sun Myung Moon was totally against the idea of love marriage, he believed that marriage is not a bond of two people, but the two entire families. His mass weddings were quite popular with good participation, in 2009, 20,000 couples got married.
6.Post-Sun Myung Moon
In the year 2012, Sun Myung Moon died, from then the movement was derailed and split into various individual movements based on diverse beliefs. His windowed wife Hak Ja Han Moon, took active participation in a number of global social activities, such as the“Mother of humankind,” and the “messiah” movement. His wife also established the Women’s Federation for World Peace International society to improve the lives of women in different parts of the world. Hyun Jin Preston Moon is the eldest living son of the Sun Myung Moon, he was the father of the social organization, Family Peace Association. While Hyung Jin Sean Moon, the youngest son of Moon laid the foundation stone of the Sanctuary Church.
